A new guide called the Beginners’ Guide to Going Electric was launched yesterday in conjunction with World EV Day. It’s designed to help car buyers explore making the switch to an electric vehicle (EV).
Created by Electrifying.com and the Department for Transport, the guide provides practical advice and top tips, as well as information on the incentives available to help persuade drivers to make the jump to electric.
The zero-emission car market in the UK is accelerating quickly. With more models coming onto the market every month, one in seven cars sold this year has a plug. The new guide arrives as the UK prepares to host the COP26 climate summit this November.

Rachel Maclean MP, Minister for the Future of Transport and Decarbonisation, said: “Driving is woven into the fabric of our everyday lives, and as we prepare for the mass adoption of electric vehicles, driver awareness and knowledge of zero emission vehicles is a crucial part of the transition.
“Our vision is to have one of the best infrastructure networks in the world for electric vehicles, and we want chargepoints to be accessible, affordable and secure. That’s why we have announced £1.3 billion to accelerate the rollout of charging infrastructure.”
The government is increasingly working with industry to provide more tools and practical advice for drivers, helping to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles.

But it’s not as complicated as it may seem, and our research shows that once you’ve gone electric you won’t want to go back to a petrol or diesel car.
