Elon Musk’s visit to the UK drives rumours of a Tesla factory

Recently, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, made a two-day visit to the UK which has sparked rumours that he’s considering a Tesla electric car Gigafactory. Musk flew to the UK on a private jet from Germany into Luton Airport.

The Daily Telegraph reported that the visit coincided with UK officials searching for a major new car plant location. Apparently, regional authorities including Teesside and the West Midlands were contacted over the potential sites.

With such secrecy around the bids for this, it has led to the rumour that Musk could be interested in setting up in the UK. There has even been speculation he visited the Prime Minister’s country residence at Chequers.

At present all of this is speculation with neither Musk nor the UK government confirming any of this. If any of this is true, it would provide a boost to employment and could mean an additional £80 billion for Britain’s car industry.
