Rhyner Logistik acquires an electric Renault Trucks D Wide Z.E fitted with solar panels

Rhyner Logistik, who are strongly committed to sustainable transport, have just acquired a fully-electric Renault Trucks D Wide Z.E. to supply Denner supermarkets. As part of the sustainable approach, the Swiss haulier has also fitted solar panels onto the body of the truck to provide power for the refrigeration unit.

The fully-electric Renault Trucks 26-tonne D Wide Z.E. has joined the one hundred-strong fleet belonging to the Swiss haulier Rhyner Logistik. The truck will be used to supply the Denner supermarkets in Zurich and its suburbs while respecting the environment.

The solar panels fitted onto the vehicle body are particularly suited to temperature-controlled transport, especially during the summer when outside temperatures are high. This provides free power when most cooling is required.

Rhyner Logistik have also acquired a rapid charging station to complement its belief is electric mobility and is one of the most effective ways to achieve carbon neutrality. To optimise efficiency the truck is charged at the depot during loading operations.

Plus, with the truck being driven in an urban environment that requires frequent braking, energy recovery also leads to savings between 20 and 30 percent that translate into additional zero-emissions kilometres.
