Shell to rebrand NewMotion and Greenlots to create global electric mobility offer through Shell Recharge Solutions
Shell to bring electric mobility portfolio businesses under unified brand to simplify customer offer
Shell have announced the rebranding of its companies NewMotion and Greenlots to Shell Recharge Solutions as it further integrates its global electric vehicle (EV) charging offer. The rebrand will be completed in early 2022 and will tie together Shell's regional electric vehicle charging businesses under a unified global brand.
Shell acquired NewMotion in 2017 and Greenlots in early 2019. Together the two companies sell and install charge points at homes, workplaces, destinations and depots, operating nearly 80,000 charge points. The teams also provide software solutions and access to over 300,000 public charging points in Europe, North America and South East Asia.
Shell Recharge Solutions will continue to develop a global portfolio of products and services to help a rapidly growing number of customers transition to electric mobility. This is regardless of whether it is through depot-based charging systems or at home solutions.
Roger Hunter, Shell Electric Mobility vice president, said: “The upcoming brand change will help Shell to move our electric charging capability and offer from local to global.

Melanie Lane, NewMotion CEO, said: “The world is preparing for a massive uptake of EVs over the next decade. By 2030, it is expected that there will be at least 125 million plug-in vehicles on the roads, compared to just 10 million today.
“A user base of that scale demands an end-to-end approach to charging infrastructure to meet its needs. By making charging simpler and investing in smart technologies, we will help enable the mass adoption of EVs and support the drive towards a lower carbon world.”

“We have ambitious targets and as Shell Recharge Solutions we will further integrate the expertise shared across these businesses to provide more customers with smart EV charging solutions.”
Shell Recharge Solutions will support customers in their transition to electric mobility. The team will provide Shell Recharge branded hardware and software services for home and business, in addition to supporting the Shell Recharge public charging network, and providing existing white label solutions.
Shell has committed to becoming a net zero emissions business by 2050, or sooner in step with society. Shell’s ambition is to operate 500,000 charge points by 2025 and 2,500,000 by 2030 and this is an important step in realising that ambition.
