Swedish carmaker makes its Polestar 2 electric car more accessible than ever before as it offers three new variants with prices starting at £39,900
Range-topping Polestar 2 electric crossover fastback offers up to 335 miles (539km) of range
The Polestar 2 electric car model range is expanding to three variants. With two powertrains, two battery packs and curated optional equipment packs, the electric performance fastback now starts at £39,900. This makes it accessible to a wider audience to help accelerate the move to zero-emissions driving.
Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, said: “2021 is the year in which Polestar 2 will really gain momentum. We launched with a strong offer which has set a great tone for the car. Now, we expand the offering with additional versions, each maintaining its unique design, premium quality and fun driving experience.”
Polestar 2, which was launched in the latter half of 2020, has received high praise from customers and press alike, winning several awards. The latest award was from Red Dot, where Polestar 2 has been named ‘Best of the Best’ in the Product Design category for 2021.
Thomas Ingenlath continues: “What we have successfully managed with the new versions is to avoid stripping the lower-priced models of their character and premium feel. Even the most affordable Polestar 2, with no optional equipment, has great visual consistency and a high level of standard equipment.”
The most powerful Polestar 2 features a 78kWh battery with a long-range dual 300kW (408-horsepower) motor. It offers up to 298 miles (480km) of range and costs £45,900.
The range-topping Polestar 2 features a similar 78kWh battery but comes with a long-range single 170kW (231-horsepower) motor. It offers up to 335 miles (539km) of range and costs £42,900.
The most economical Polestar 2 features a 64kWh battery with a long-range single 165kW (224-horsepower) motor. It offers up to 273 miles (439km) of range and will cost £39,900.
All versions of Polestar 2 feature 19-inch wheels, signature LED light designs front and rear, and Polestar’s signature frameless mirrors. The new standard embossed textile upholstery is a vegan material and is available in two colour executions, matched to new 3D-etched décor panels. Other notable standard features include high-performance audio with 8 speakers, front- and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera.
